Inside The Dog Stop® Cincinnati Central
The Dog Stop® Cincinnati Central is a 13,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art dog daycare, boarding, and grooming facility designed to support dogs of all sizes, ages, and temperaments. Our facility features five spacious indoor play areas, each paired with its own adjacent outdoor yard, allowing for safe, structured play throughout the day.
One of our play spaces is exclusively designed for VIP dogs (Very Independent Players), pups who thrive in a quieter, more private environment. VIP dogs receive one-on-one playtime, enrichment, and cuddle sessions with our trained staff, ensuring personalized attention and reduced stress.
We also offer a dedicated playroom for dogs 20 pounds and under, creating a safe and comfortable environment for smaller pups. With multiple play groups and thoughtful separation, we can safely accommodate dogs of all personalities, from energetic puppies to senior and reactive dogs. All luxury and VIP boarding suites, as well as every play area, are equipped with live cameras, allowing pet parents to check in on their dogs anytime for complete peace of mind.

Locally Owned. Dog Mom Inspired.
Cincinnati Proud.
The Dog Stop® Cincinnati Central is proudly locally owned and operated by Mary Beth Schutter, a University of Cincinnati graduate, experienced Human Resources executive, and devoted dog mom. Inspired by her search for quality care for her dogs, Henry and Daisy, Mary Beth opened The Dog Stop® to provide compassionate, inclusive services for dogs of all needs. “I struggled to find a place that could truly meet my dogs’ unique needs,” said Schutter. “The Dog Stop® stood out because of their highly trained staff and ability to care for every dog.”
Following the Fear Free® approach, The Dog Stop® Cincinnati Central focuses on reducing stress and anxiety while promoting emotional wellbeing, giving pet parents confidence their dogs will receive individualized care.

FAQs
What are your daycare & boarding requirements?
All dogs participating in daycare must demonstrate appropriate social skills and the ability to play safely with other dogs. During their first day and/or their first overnight stay at The Dog Stop®, we will evaluate your dog’s interactions with other guests. If we find your dog isn’t an appropriate fit for daycare, they will be separated from other canine guests for the remainder of their stay with regular one-on-one staff time, potty breaks and play sessions. Before dog boarding and/or daycare, you must provide proof that the following vaccinations are current: Bordetella, Parvovirus & Distemper, and Rabies. Puppies must have all three distemper boosters. We also require that your dog is on a regular flea and tick prevention program, such as Frontline or Advantage or wearing a Seresto Collar (no flea powder). Dogs over seven (7) months must be spayed or neutered to participate in daycare.
Do you have cameras?
Yes! All our dog daycare rooms are equipped with cameras so you can rest easy knowing your dog is being well cared for right from your phone or computer. To view, just go to your location’s page.
What happens if I cannot drop off or pick up my dog during The Dog Stop® business hours?
We will do our best to honor client special requests, although additional costs may apply. Tardiness that is not arranged for in advance may be subject to a one dollar per minute fee at the sole discretion of Management.
What happens over the holidays?
The Dog Stop® hours of operation will be limited to half days, 6:30 AM to 1:00 PM, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve unless the holiday falls on a weekend, in which case regular weekend hours will be observed. The Dog Stop® is closed to the public on all major holidays including but not limited to New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. We are still staffed to care for your pups during this time, we will just not be operating for dog daycare, grooming, or boarding pick-ups and drop-offs.
When and what will my dog(s) be fed?
We always suggest that you bring your dog’s food with you from home to limit any digestive upset they may experience by changing their diet. You can provide their food in individually portioned containers or bags. Write down the instructions on how much and how often they are fed right on the bag or container. If food is not provided, your dog will be fed our House dog kibble at no additional cost. Dogs will be fed in the morning and evening unless otherwise requested by the Owner.
Do you administer medications?
Yes. We administer medications (pills, ointments, etc.) on a case-by-case basis. Just provide the medication and instructions at drop-off. If your dog has had a recent major medical issue, we may require a release from your vet before he is allowed to return to dog daycare or boarding.
Do I get a discount if I have multiple dogs?
Yes! We provide a discount for any additional dog. See pricing for multiple dog discounts.
Am I able to tour the facility before purchasing services?
Yes! Stop in during our regular business hours and we’d be happy to give you a tour of the facility!
