A very independent player, or VIP, cannot participate in group interaction for any number of reasons. Maybe you know your pup won’t excel in a group setting, and want to keep him or her separate. Maybe the staff recognizes your pup prefers solo activities to group play. Either way, VIPs are pups that cannot participate in group interaction. Perhaps they have been involved in altercations or display antagonistic behavior, or maybe your pup is physically compromised or are too stressed in a group setting and enjoy one-on-one attention far more.
VIP activities are geared towards addressing both physical and mental stimulation. Each dog gets a Lickimat, Kong or Puzzle during the day for additional mental stimulation and rotated into our VIP area throughout the day to stretch their legs and have potty breaks
Ask a staff member to see a full menu of activities during your next visit or visit here for a sample menu.
Boarding for VIP dogs will now be $77 per night for a standard kennel or $99 a night for a luxury kennel. In addition to their normal personalized breaks, your pup will receive two specialized enrichment activities per day (excluding the day of pick up); one geared for physical stimulation and one geared towards mental enrichment. You can either choose these yourself or have staff make recommendations! Here’s a sample menu. Additional activities can always be added a la carte to your pups program for an additional charge.
A better question is “what don’t they do?” VIP activities are geared towards addressing both physical and mental stimulation. Ask your TDS location for a full menu of enrichment activities.

We highly encourage you to drop off your VIP off during our 10am – 4pm Red Carpet Hours to avoid high traffic in store and to ensure that your pup gets ample time to participate in that days activities. Please make sure to schedule their pickup and dropoff times with staff directly.
Sometimes daycare dogs benefit from a day of one-on-one activity. On those days, they may switch to the enrichment program for the day, and back to daycare on their next visit. While VIP pups participate in the same enrichment activities, they do not have the option to participate in group play.
Schedule a VIP assessment! We want to make sure you pup is set up for success with our VIP program, so we ask that you schedule a day ahead of time to drop of your dog for us to assess. If the assessment goes well, you can then make VIP daycare and boarding reservations. There are a limited number of VIP spots each day, so RESERVATIONS ARE ALWAYS REQUIRED! Remember, staff retains the right to deny a dog access to the program if there is a concern for staff or the dog’s safety and wellbeing.
In addition to the assessment, we’ll also need to see the same vaccinations required of our other daycare and boarding pups: rabies, distemper, and Bordetella.

From a young age, my life has revolved around dogs—at one point, we had at least five in the house! With a mother who worked as a dog groomer, I was hands-on with puppies and adult dogs as soon as I could walk. That early exposure sparked a lifelong passion for canine care and behavior.
At 16, I got my first personal dog, Hamilton Jack, a French Bulldog who challenged me with significant behavioral issues. Working through those struggles taught me how transformative training can be—not just for dogs, but for the people who love them. That experience inspired me to help other dogs live fuller, happier lives through effective training.
Over time, two shelter dogs joined my family, each bringing new lessons in behavior, patience, and love. While working at an animal shelter, I earned my CPDT-KA certification and trained countless dogs to prepare them for forever homes—and, just as importantly, to help them stay there.
Today, I specialize in science-based, positive reinforcement training for dogs of all ages and backgrounds—from puppy fundamentals to complex behavioral challenges. My goal is always to strengthen the bond between dogs and their people while building lasting, real-world skills through kind, effective methods.
Rob’s journey as a dog trainer began at just 7 years old when he welcomed his first puppy. What was meant to be a family project quickly revealed something special—Rob had a natural ability to connect with dogs. He took the lead in training, setting the stage for what would become a lifelong passion turned career.
In 1998, Rob joined The Seeing Eye’s prestigious Volunteer Puppy Raising Program. Since then, he has dedicated nearly three decades to raising and preparing young puppies for their future as guide dogs for the blind. Each pup, just seven weeks old upon arrival, spends over a year in Rob’s care. During that time, he instills critical skills: housebreaking, obedience, manners, and real-world socialization—giving every dog the foundation they need to succeed in their life-changing roles.
After retiring from his first career, Rob pursued his professional dog training certification through Animal Behavior College. Today, he combines his extensive hands-on experience with formal education to help dog parents navigate behavioral challenges and build stronger bonds with their dogs. His approach centers around modern, science-based, positive reinforcement techniques.
Rob believes dogs make life better—and that every dog deserves a parent who understands them. His mission is simple: to help every dog become their best self, and every dog parent become their dog’s greatest advocate.
