Call us! We are happy to give tours during regular business hours, subject to staff availability.
What security measures do you have?
Our facility has multiple layers of security. We have cameras monitoring 24/7 both inside and outside along with fire alarms and fire suppression.

Do you restrict dogs by breeds?
We do not! We love and care for any dog that comes to The Dog Stop® – Long Hill, provided a dog does not present itself as a danger to our handlers and are up-to-date with their vaccines.
Do you take a dog that is intact (not spayed or neutered)?
Yes, we can take dogs who are intact and they are permitted into our group play yards unless they are over 7 months old. If a dog grows up coming to The Dog Stop® – Long Hill, they can still be allowed into the group yards as long as their intact status does not affect the group dynamic and their behavior does not change. If their behavior does change, they will be moved to our VIP program.
Intact dogs over 7 months, that are new to The Dog Stop® – Long Hill, are welcome to come but must be in our VIP program.
Female dogs are not allowed in the building if they are actively in heat.
What is the evaluation process?
Dogs undergo a behavioral evaluation to ensure they are placed in appropriate play groups. Each dog’s needs are assessed individually.
At The Dog Stop® – Long Hill we do everything in our power to set dogs up for success and a great time. The first part is to allow the dogs to acclimate to our kennels. After, that we proceed with their behavioral evaluation.
We will take as much time as needed, some dogs benefit from a rest in the kennel after one part of the evaluation, others fly though it! No two dog are the same and we will tailor the evaluation process as best we can to insure the dogs are as comfortable as possible with the group they are placed in.
What can my dog expect as a first-time boarder?
You and your dog can expect love, care and attention at The Dog Stop® – Long Hill. We aim to make the dogs as comfortable as possible. To this end, we have Kuranda beds, fleece blankets with fresh water in each kennel.
Our staff come in before opening to tend to our boarding dogs, making sure they get out to potty early and get to eat breakfast undisturbed before the daycare day begins!
What should I expect when my dog comes home from Daycare?
Your dog may be tired. Why, you ask? It’s one of the great benefits! Dogs play all day so they are naturally tired at the end of the day. If your pup becomes overly tired during the day, we will take them to one of comfortable kennels for a short nap. It’s not uncommon for dogs to sleep after they come home.
Your dog may also be thirsty. Water is available at all times in play areas and kennels, but playing hard makes dogs thirsty.
If your pup’s paws are sensitive, there’s no need to worry. It’s common for dogs’ pads to be sore after playing, especially when they first start coming. Most dog’s paws are not used to playing all day but they will build stronger pads the more they visit.
What is doggy daycare?
Doggy daycare is a place to drop-off your dog for the day to play with other furry friends supervised by our trained dog handlers in a clean, safe, and fun environment.
Daycare provides the opportunity to:
- Get regular exercise to maintain a healthy weight
- Improve their socialization with dogs
- Relieve separation anxiety, boredom, and destructive behavior at home
- Increases your dog’s overall happiness
Is daycare included in boarding?
Yes, as long as the dogs have passed their behavioral evaluation they will join our daycare groups for all-day play time!
What are the requirements for daycare and boarding?
All dogs participating in daycare must demonstrate appropriate social skills and the ability to play safely with other dogs. During their first day at The Dog Stop®, we will do a Behavioral Evaluation to evaluate your dog’s interactions with other guests. If we find your dog isn’t an appropriate fit for daycare, they will be separated from other canine guests for the remainder of their stay with regular one-on-one staff time, potty breaks and play sessions.
Before dog boarding, daycare and/or grooming, you must provide proof that the following:
- Vaccinations are current: Bordetella, Parvovirus & Distemper, and Rabies.
- Puppies must have all three distemper boosters. We also require that your dog is on a regular flea and tick prevention program, such as Frontline or Advantage or wearing a Seresto Collar (no flea powder).
- Dogs over seven (7) months must be spayed or neuteredto participate in group daycare.
Will my dog be tired after daycare?
Yes, dogs often return home tired from play. Water is available at all times, and handlers provide rest as needed.
Will my dogs be in the play yards all day?
Dogs can be in the yard all day depending on them. Some dogs can play all day, while others cannot. Our handlers are trained to know when dogs need a break from the play yard. Dogs who are removed from the yard enjoy one of our kennels with a bed, blanket and water.
Do dogs ever get minor injuries?
Minor scratches or nicks can occur during play, but serious injuries are rare. Staff are trained in first aid and CPR, and veterinary care is provided if needed.
Can I watch my dog in daycare?
Yes! Play areas have live cameras accessible through our website during business hours.
What should I bring for boarding?
We recommend owners bring their food from home (proportioned in labeled bags) and a bedding item. This allows the dogs to settle and enjoy comfortable bedding they know. (Please be aware boarding can be stressful so some dogs may resort shredding blankets/bedding.) Owners are welcome to bring toys for their dogs to keep in the kennel as well.

Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA)
Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA)
From a young age, my life has revolved around dogs—at one point, we had at least five in the house! With a mother who worked as a dog groomer, I was hands-on with puppies and adult dogs as soon as I could walk. That early exposure sparked a lifelong passion for canine care and behavior.
At 16, I got my first personal dog, Hamilton Jack, a French Bulldog who challenged me with significant behavioral issues. Working through those struggles taught me how transformative training can be—not just for dogs, but for the people who love them. That experience inspired me to help other dogs live fuller, happier lives through effective training.
Over time, two shelter dogs joined my family, each bringing new lessons in behavior, patience, and love. While working at an animal shelter, I earned my CPDT-KA certification and trained countless dogs to prepare them for forever homes—and, just as importantly, to help them stay there.
Today, I specialize in science-based, positive reinforcement training for dogs of all ages and backgrounds—from puppy fundamentals to complex behavioral challenges. My goal is always to strengthen the bond between dogs and their people while building lasting, real-world skills through kind, effective methods.

Lifelong Dog Trainer, Puppy Raiser, and Canine Behavior Expert
Rob’s journey as a dog trainer began at just 7 years old when he welcomed his first puppy. What was meant to be a family project quickly revealed something special—Rob had a natural ability to connect with dogs. He took the lead in training, setting the stage for what would become a lifelong passion turned career.
In 1998, Rob joined The Seeing Eye’s prestigious Volunteer Puppy Raising Program. Since then, he has dedicated nearly three decades to raising and preparing young puppies for their future as guide dogs for the blind. Each pup, just seven weeks old upon arrival, spends over a year in Rob’s care. During that time, he instills critical skills: housebreaking, obedience, manners, and real-world socialization—giving every dog the foundation they need to succeed in their life-changing roles.
After retiring from his first career, Rob pursued his professional dog training certification through Animal Behavior College. Today, he combines his extensive hands-on experience with formal education to help dog parents navigate behavioral challenges and build stronger bonds with their dogs. His approach centers around modern, science-based, positive reinforcement techniques.
Rob believes dogs make life better—and that every dog deserves a parent who understands them. His mission is simple: to help every dog become their best self, and every dog parent become their dog’s greatest advocate.
