What are your store & daycare hours?

Do you accept cash or credit cards?

Yes, we accept cash and all major credit cards. We do not accept Apple Pay.

Do you require deposits?

Yes, a 50% deposit is required for both boarding and grooming services.

Do you offer tours of the facility?

Yes! We are transparent and proud of our facility and happy to give tours during normal hours. The Dog Stop® – Long Hill aims to put your mind at ease and show you where your dog will be staying whether you use us for daycare, boarding or both!

Call us! We are happy to give tours during regular business hours, subject to staff availability.

What security measures do you have?

Our facility has multiple layers of security. We have cameras monitoring 24/7 both inside and outside along with fire alarms and fire suppression.

After hours, all our exterior doors are alarmed and the kennel area has an active motion detection system

Do you restrict dogs by breeds?

We do not! We love and care for any dog that comes to The Dog Stop® – Long Hill, provided a dog does not present itself as a danger to our handlers and are up-to-date with their vaccines.

Do you take a dog that is intact (not spayed or neutered)?

Yes, we can take dogs who are intact and they are permitted into our group play yards unless they are over 7 months old. If a dog grows up coming to The Dog Stop® – Long Hill, they can still be allowed into the group yards as long as their intact status does not affect the group dynamic and their behavior does not change. If their behavior does change, they will be moved to our VIP program.
Intact dogs over 7 months, that are new to The Dog Stop® – Long Hill, are welcome to come but must be in our VIP program.

Female dogs are not allowed in the building if they are actively in heat.

Do you have retail?

Our retail space focuses on nutritious foods, supplements and treats, as well as fun toys for your furry friends.

 

What foods do you carry in the retail store?

We currently carry Open Farm and FirstMate. Both are highly nutritious freeze-dried food. Freeze-dried foods are as close to fresh food as you can purchase, but they have the benefit of being shelf stable. We also carry various food toppers and supplements.

 

Do you carry treats and toys?

Yes, we carry healthy treats, toppers, supplements, and durable toys.

What happens if I cannot drop-off or my dog during The Dog Stop® business hours?

We will do our best to honor client special requests, although additional costs may apply. Tardiness that is not arranged for in advance may be subject to a one dollar per minute fee at the sole discretion of management.

Can dogs who had surgery come to daycare or boarding?

Dogs must be at least 2 weeks post-op and suture-free. However, if we have a doctor’s release, we can accept your dog for daycare and/or boarding earlier, but they have to be in our VIP program.

Can senior dogs board?

Yes, but an older pet that rarely or has never boarded before may have a difficult time adjusting to a new environment and routine. We recommend speaking to your veterinarian to discuss if boarding is a suitable option for your pet.

What happens over the holidays?

The Dog Stop® – Long Hill hours of operation will be limited to half days, 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM,  Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, unless the holiday falls on a weekend, in which case regular weekend hours will be observed.

The Dog Stop® – Long Hill is closed to the public on all major holidays including but not limited to New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

We are still staffed to care for your pups during this time, we will just not be operating for dog daycare, grooming, or boarding pick-ups and drop-offs.

Do you accommodate medication schedules?

Yes, we can administer oral and topical medications during business hours.

We do not administer injections or medications outside business hours.

If your dog has had a recent major medical issue, we may require a release from your vet before he is allowed to return to dog daycare or boarding.

Please bring any medication in the original container with specific instructions.

What is done keep the facilities and the dogs healthy?

  • Multiple health protocols in place to keep all pups safe and healthy.
  • Staff continuously clean play areas and kennels throughout the day.
  • Vacated kennels are thoroughly sanitized for the next pup.
  • State-of-the-art HVAC system maintains clean, healthy air.
  • Indoor and outdoor play areas are cleaned nightly.
  • Deep-cleaning protocols are implemented if any illness occurs, including a quarantine kennel with separate ventilation.
  • A selection of fun, engaging, and durable toys is available for dogs of all sizes.

What vaccines are required?

All dogs must have up-to-date rabies, distemper, and bordetella vaccines. Puppies must have all three distemper boosters.

Are your staff trained in first aid and CPR?

Yes, our staff goes through extensive first aid training prior to handling your dogs.

Yes, all the staff receive instruction in CPR for dogs.

How do you deal with minor cuts and scratches?

A minor scrape or scratch (often from having such a good time with dog friends!) will be cleaned and the owner will be made aware of at pick-up .

What happens if a dog needs veterinary service while in your care?

If a dog is injured or ill, we attempt to contact the owner or emergency contact immediately, then reach out to the vet we have listed in your dog’s profile. A minor scrape or scratch will be cleaned and the owner will be made aware of at pick-up.

If the illness or injury is serious, our staff will transport the dog to an emergency veterinary clinic and contact the owner.

Do you restrict dogs by breed or spay/neuter status?

No breed restrictions. Intact dogs are welcome but may have limitations in group play. Female dogs in heat are not allowed in the building.

We need to have a guidelines for a dogs return after illness (like Kennel Cough)?

Recommendation from my research says 14 days from first symptoms as long as the pup is now symptom free.
